Makubenjalo Performing Artists


We take the youth out of street corners and encouraging them to take part in the arts. We train our members to be performers and facilitators of drama, dance, music and spoken word. Have been in existence for the past 13 years and actively participating in the arts both as participants and organizers of youth development programs through arts processes, festivals, workshops, mentor upcoming arts groups and  community awareness campaigns focusing on social, health and environmental issues, educate, restore and remind people about their culture and heritage etc.


Contribute in the growing process of Applied Drama: Theatre in Education, Communities and Social Contexts as a Performing Arts Method in the South African Community Theatre. Coordinate and facilitate accredited training for disadvantaged community arts practitioners to be competent for formal employment in creative industry.


Is to reach majority of people outside conventional theatre spaces and encourage them to engage with our unique processes, which enable ethical space for dialogues focusing on Social Transformation, Human Rights, Social Justice, Peace Building, Diversity Management, Xenophobia, HIV/Aids Capacity Development and Wellness. We will achieve our mission through Applied Drama and Theatre as a method designed to encourage participation of actors and non-actors outside conventional theatre spaces.
