Lashona Art and Theatre Creations

The group was established in 2002 by Doctor Vusi Kheswa and it has been working without funding or support. We have been working with local primary schools and community spaces showcasing our productions for them and training them in traditional singing, dancing and theatre. In 2013 we met Gisele Turner who introduced us to the Twist Development Project and we became part of it, writing new productions and participating in many festivals.  Since that time we have been developing many new concept and building our repertoire to include many styles of theatre including mask work, puppetry and storytelling. Lashona art & Theatre Creations is currently a Mentee of the ASSITEJ South Africa Theatre4Youth Mentorship Programme. This programme is supported by UNESCO’s International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD) and the UNESCO 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
