Kate Liquorish studied a BA in Theatre and Performance at The University of Cape Town, graduating with honours in the degree in 2006.
Since then she has been involved prolifically in Theatre, television and film.
She has appeared in no fewer than 17 theatrical productions in the last 8 years, including: RICHARD III directed by Lara Bye, THE MISER directed by Sylvaine Strike, THE GIRL IN THE YELLOW DRESS directed by Malcolm Purkey and a multitude of productions with THE MECHANICALS, of which she was one of the founding members. She has been nominated for 4 Fleur du Cap awards including 2 nominations (best actress and best solo performance) for MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE in 2013 and best supporting actress for THE MISER, also in 2013.
She has written 3 plays including FOURSIGHT and ONE WOMAN, ONE SHOW which have toured around schools and festivals in South Africa for the last 5 years, both of which have received great critical acclaim.
Workshops and Services
Creating character from self:
1 1/2 hour workshop for learners aged 13-18, maximum number of learners: 80
This workshop encourages learners to examine themselves in an empowering and positive manner; looking at who they are physically, mentally, vocally and comedically, and giving learners the skills to create characters from within.
Play Writing Workshop:
1 ½ hour workshop on script writing for stage for learners aged 13–18, maximum number of learners: 50
This workshop explores play-writing and how you go from page to stage. The learners are taught and taken through various exercises that enable them to write a piece or pieces of work that they then put into action. It empowers learners by giving them the skills to create their own work, express themselves and experience the wonder of their own voices being heard. Taking learners through a carefully selected number of creative processes that allow for ideas to take life from conceptual notion to page to stage.
