Gavin Bonner

Gavin Bonner combines improvised free style performance poetry ,storytelling and music to create a direct, immediate and uncompromising connection with his audience. Gavin draws on his extensive travels around the world , celebrating diversity while underlining our common human experience . He also has a rare gift of poetic improvisation y and can spontaneously perform a poem or poetic story about anything you like!

He has performed with legendary artists in the UK like Bill Bruford , Gary Husband, Flamenco virtuoso Juan Martin and Nigel Kennedy alumnus Julia Palmer on Cello. Recent collaborators in Cape Town include Kyle Sheperd, Reza Khota and UK/Barbados saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings (Polar Bear, Mulatu Astatke, Suns of Kemet)

Since 2004 Gavin has called Cape Town home although he continues to travel around South Africa and abroad. He has performed, taught and run workshops in theatres, schools, universities, community centres, in businesses, arts festivals like Grahamstown and Glastonbury which draws crowds of over 120 000. Gavin also enjoys performing in people’s lounges.
